How CEREC Works

We use a highly-sensitive precision wand to digitally scan the section of your mouth where a dental restoration will be placed. As the wand scans the area, it builds a virtual model of your mouth on a screen right in front of your eyes. You and your doctor can fine-tune the area until the virtual model represents your mouth exactly.

Once the digital model of the dental restoration area have been finished, Adamsville Family Dentistry will digitally design a restoration right there on the screen. It will be designed to be fully functional and fit exactly in the area where it needs to be place.

From there, this digital restoration will be sent to a milling machine where a color-matched block of porcelain will be precisely milled into the final restoration. This restoration is NOT a temporary, but rather the same restoration we expect to receive from a dental lab.

The final restoration is test-fitted to the area and any final adjustments are made before securely bonding the restoration to the tooth. You will walk out of our office wearing the final restoration in a single dental visit.

Single appointment dentistry is not too good to be true! Call us at (731) 632-3371 or request an appointment to see what CEREC can do for your specific situation.

Solea Laser

The miracle we’ve both been waiting for is here: Solea. Now available to you, Solea is a dental laser that replaces the dental drill in the majority of procedures in our practice. In fact, nearly every patient skips anesthesia because they just don’t need it. Solea is our way of keeping you happy. Because more than anything, we love to see you smile.

Solea Sleep

Solea Sleep is a new laser therapy (non-surgical) that provides rapid relief for snoring.

Solea Sleep uses ultra-low laser energy to tighten collagen in the soft palate, which reduces vibrations that cause snoring. There is no recovery time, is 90% effective and requires no local anesthetic and completely pain free! After a single visit, you will be on your way to better sleep.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography

CBCT stands for "cone beam computed tomography". This is a particular x-ray machine that is used in situations where standard x-rays are not sufficient. The CBCT uses advanced technology which allows us to view 3D images of a patient's dental structure, soft tissues, bone and nerve pathways within the face and mouth. These special x-rays allow for precise treatments to be put in to effect due to its high quality images and the details within. When the CBCT x-rays are called for, we ask that patients wear comfy and loose fitting clothing and will have to remove any type of metal that can interfere with the scan itself. This includes but is not limited to; jewelry, hairpins, underwire bras and glasses.

Some of the most common procedures in which the CBCT is used are:

  • Impacted teeth
  • Locating oral pain
  • Evaluating jaws, nerves, nasal cavity, and sinuses
  • Reconstructive surgery
  • Implant placement
  • Diagnosing TMJ

Digital Panoramic X-Rays

Panoramic x-rays offer patients a complete detailed image of the entire mouth including the teeth, jaw (upper and lower), sinuses, and TMJ.

It provides a complete picture on how everything looks and relates to each other.

Digital X-Rays

Our office uses the latest in digital x-ray technology. Digital x-rays offer a detailed image of your entire mouth and also offer up to 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays.

X-rays play an invaluable role in the diagnosis of dental problems, as well as provide a clear picture for a dentist to accurately diagnose and provide the necessary treatment.

We place a small sensor in your mouth. The sensor is connected to a computer by a thin wire. Next, an x-ray beam is sent through your teeth and into the sensor, which records the image of your teeth and sends it to the computer. The sensor can then be repositioned to image other sections of your teeth.

The digital dental x-ray system is more sensitive than dental x-ray film systems, so your exposure to x-rays is cut by as much as 90 percent. The large and color-enhanced images let you see what your dentist sees, so it's easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth. Your dental checkups take less time, and it's fun to watch this system work! Most patients are amazed.

Intra-Oral Camera

We provide our patients with an intra-oral video examination. This allows both the doctor and the patient to see the condition of the mouth at the same time, then discuss treatment options.

Opalescence Take Home Whitening

Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are only available from your dentist, who will supervise your treatment from initial consultation through completion. The sticky, viscous gel won't migrate to gums and most formulations include Potassium Fluoride (PF), which helps to improve oral health by strengthening enamel, decreasing sensitivity and offering increased cavity prevention.

Sapphire Single-Visit Teeth Whitening

Preparation

We start the in-office whitening process by covering your lips and gums leaving only your teeth exposed. At this time, we can usually estimate how white your new smile will be by matching your teeth with a whitening shade and estimate approximately up to 9 shades whiter from here.

Application

Next a high-strength proprietary whitening gel is applied to the surfaces of your teeth. This special gel is specifically designed to work with the in-office whitening light.

Whitening

The in-office whitening light is placed directly in front of your teeth to maximize exposure to the gel. The special light activates the gel which gently penetrates the outer-most (enamel) layer of your teeth; breaking up stains and discoloration during the process.

Smile

Smile with confidence as you leave the office with a brighter, whiter smile!

If you are thinking about whitening your teeth and would like to try our Sapphire whitening service, call us anytime at (731) 632-3371 or request an appointment and come see what it's all about!

VELscope

The VELscope is an FDA approved device that aides in the early detection of oral cancer. This is a pain-free, non-invasive procedure where a safe blue light is emitted into the patient's mouth. The dentist is able to immediately view different fluorescence responses to help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue.

Oral cancer when detected early has a greater chance of successful treatment. Most people are not aware of this disease until it has presented itself as a problem and by then it has progressed extensively.

We recommend yearly screenings for adults, especially denture wearers and smokers.

Waterpik

Water Flossers offer patients an easier and more effective alternative to dental floss for improving oral health. More than 50 published clinical studies conducted at 25 university and independent research facilities have proven Waterpik Water Flossers are safe and effective on patients with gingivitis, periodontal disease, orthodontic appliances, implants, crowns, bridges.
